DSPM: data security posture management

Data security posture management that knows where your Aadhaar numbers live

ion finds every data store across AWS, Azure and GCP, classifies what is inside, and shows who can reach it. Scanning happens agentlessly inside your own account, so the data never leaves your cloud.

The problem

You secured the production database. Then it had children.

Cloud data security fails quietly. Every snapshot, dev clone, export and log file is a new copy of customer data with its own permissions, and most of them are invisible to the team that secured the original. Play one year of a single table's life.

    Sensitive data discovery

Data discovery and classification that speaks Indian data

Global classifiers know social security numbers. ion also knows Aadhaar, PAN, IFSC codes and UPI IDs, plus cards, health details and leaked keys. Pick a sample and classify it.

    What ion found

    • Press Classify to scan this sample.

Synthetic sample data. Every identifier on this page is fake.

    Exposure and access context

Sensitive is a label. Exposed and reachable is a priority.

A classification on its own gives you a long list. ion ranks each store by what it holds, how it is exposed, how it is protected and which identities, including AI agents, can reach it. Switch the context on and watch the order change.

Simulated stores and weights, for illustration.

      Agentless snapshot scanning

Your data is scanned where it lives. Only the findings leave.

No agents on databases, no proxies in the data path and no copies in someone else's cloud. ion scans snapshots and read-only views inside your own account and region, then sends back metadata: what was found, where, and how much.

      1. Discover every store through read-only cloud APIs: object storage, managed databases, warehouses and block volumes.
      2. Snapshot or read in place, inside your account, so production performance and data stay where they are.
      3. Classify with a scanner that runs in the same region as the data and is torn down afterwards.
      4. Report only metadata to ion: data types, counts, locations and labels. Never the records themselves.
      Compliance evidence

DPDP, RBI, SEBI and PCI all start with the same question: where is the data?

Regulators ask you to protect personal and financial data you can prove you know about. ion turns DSPM findings into evidence mapped to the framework in front of you.

Summaries are simplified for readability and are not legal advice. ion supplies evidence; your compliance team owns the interpretation.

      DSPM vs CSPM vs DLP

Three tools, three questions. You need all three answers.

DSPM is often pitched as a replacement for CSPM or DLP. It is not. Here is what each one actually answers, and where ion connects them. Tap a column to focus it.

      FAQ

      DSPM questions, answered

DSPM stands for data security posture management. It discovers where sensitive data lives across your cloud, classifies it (for example Aadhaar, PAN, card numbers or health records), and assesses its risk from exposure, encryption and who can access it. ion adds the cloud and identity context needed to fix the riskiest stores first.
